The Amount Of Carbohydrates In Red Bell Pepper

When it comes to the amount of carbohydrates in red bell peppers it is minimal. While these peppers are typically eaten as a vegetable, they are actually a fruit.

This is why it is sometimes a common misconception that they are higher in carbohydrates, but this is not the case. On average a red bell pepper will only actually contain around 6 grams of carbohydrates.

When you compare this to a potato which has around 17 grams, there is a significant difference.

However, as they do contain 6 grams, they are not completely free of carbohydrates. Even so, if you are on a low carb or keto diet, they are still suitable to be consumed, and they will not have too much of an effect on this.

In comparison to other types of fruit, a strawberry contains around 8 grams, which is more than a red bell pepper. Out of all the different types of pepper, as red bell peppers are the ripest, they do contain the most carbohydrates.

A green bell pepper for comparison only contains around 4.6, which is lower. This is because the fruit has been on the vine for the shortest amount of time.
