You first sear the Italian sausage before adding the sausage, bell peppers, onion, marinara sauce, and seasoning to the slow cooker. Once its all cooked through and the flavors have blended, you can transfer it to an oven safe dish to broil and melt cheese on the top. Serve it casserole-style or in a low-carb bun.

If there are no specific instructions, and the recipe doesnt say to stir all the ingredients, we recommend adding any vegetables first, then meats, the finally the liquid and seasonings.

There is no strict definition of a low-carb diet. Typically, anything under 100 grams of carbs a day is considered low-carb. With the keto diet, many people stick to less than 20 grams of net carbs , while some stick to 20 grams of carbs total .

Four Add Remaining Ingredients

About 30 minutes before serving add cream cheese that has been brought to room temperature and cut into cubes. Allow it to melt, stirring occasionally.

Tip: let cream cheese and sour cream come to room temperature before adding to slow cooker.

Once the cream cheese is melted add sour cream, then salt and pepper to taste. Because of the dried onion soup mix, you will more than likely not need to add additional salt.

Tip: if stroganoff is too runny, keep the lid off after adding cheese and sour cream to allow moisture to evaporate. You can also whisk in 1/2 tsp of xanthan gum to the sauce and allow it to thicken as well.
